Rabbit
Win a hole outright to catch it — hold it at the turn
The game in 20 seconds
Win a hole outright — the low score, nobody tied — and you catch the rabbit. The next time somebody else wins a hole outright, it's set loose again, and the next outright winner catches it.
Whoever has it when the nine ends wins that rabbit: a point from every other player. There's a front rabbit and a back rabbit.
Who plays
- 2 to 4 players, everyone for themselves.
- Play it as your main game, or add it to another one. Added mid-round, it scores the whole round from the scores already on the card.
- No teams or order to settle — the rabbit starts loose.
Scoring a hole
- Rabbit loose and you win the hole outright → you catch it.
- You have it and someone else wins outright → it's loose again. They don't get it — the next outright winner does, and that can be anyone, you included.
- You have it and win again → nothing changes.
- Tie for low → nothing happens.
Holes 1–4Hole 1 · par 4: Nate 4, everyone else 5 → Nate catches it.
Hole 2 · par 4: Nate and Greg tie with 4s → nothing. Nate still has it.
Hole 3 · par 3: Mike 2, the rest 3s → Mike sets it loose. Nobody has it.
Hole 4 · par 4: Greg 4, the rest 5s → Greg catches it.
Loose at the turn
A rabbit still loose after the 9th rides to the back: the back-nine rabbit is then worth 2.
Holes 9–18Greg holds it to the 9th. Tyler wins the 9th outright (4 against 5s) → loose at the turn.
Hole 12 · par 3: Mike makes a 2 and catches it. No more outright wins.
Mike wins the back rabbit, worth 2.
Loose when the round ends, it pays nobody: had Nate won the 18th outright, Mike's rabbit would have gone loose and nobody would collect.
Standings read as if the round ended now: whoever holds a rabbit is booked for it.
Steal (option)
With Next outright win steals it on, it never goes loose: the next outright winner takes it straight from the holder.
The same front nine, steal onNate catches it on 1. Mike steals it on 3, Greg on 4, Tyler on 9.
Tyler wins the front rabbit — and with nothing loose at the turn, the back rabbit is worth 1.
Handicaps
Play it net and every player gets their full course handicap — one stroke a hole on the hardest holes first, by the card's stroke index. The best player gets his strokes too. Outright wins are decided on net scores.
Tyler gets 4 strokes (stroke index 1–4)Hole 1: Nate 4, Tyler 5 for a net 4 → a tie, nobody catches it. (Gross, Nate would have.)
Hole 2: Tyler 4 for a net 3, the rest 5s → Tyler catches it.
Battle Tees works out each player's course handicap from their index and tees, at the group's handicap allowance (100% unless you change it in setup). Gross and net are kept side by side all round.
💰The money
Each rabbit is worth its points from every other player. Two players who each won one cancel out between themselves.
The full round above, at $1 a pointSteal off: the front went loose, Mike's back rabbit is worth 2.
Mike collects $2 each from Nate, Greg and Tyler: Mike +$6, the rest −$2.
Steal on: Tyler has the front, Mike the back, 1 each.
Tyler and Mike are +$2 each, Nate and Greg −$2 each.
Battle Tees shows who owes whom under Settle up on the Standings screen; it never touches the money.
Options in Battle Tees
- Players in the game — 2, 3 or 4, on its card when it's your main game; as a side game it follows the group.
- Rabbits — Front & back (two rabbits), or One for 18: one rabbit, held at the 18th. A nine-hole round has one rabbit either way.
- Next outright win steals it — Off.
Set them before the first hole; they stay for the round. Every phone in the group plays with the same settings.
⚡How to win it
- Holding it, a tie is a win. Only an outright win moves it — play for the middle of the green and make them beat you alone.
- Not holding it, set it loose. Knocking it off the holder is worth a risk; the catch can come later.
- Watch the 9th. A rabbit loose at the turn doubles the back nine's.
- Steal on? The last outright win takes it. Save something for the closing holes of each nine.
